Running a WooCommerce store and selling on eBay at the same time is a reasonable multi-channel strategy, but it creates a persistent operational problem: keeping product data, inventory counts, and order records consistent across both platforms costs time and money that most growing businesses would rather spend elsewhere. Hiring someone to manage that, or buying the tooling to automate it, sits permanently on the operating budget. The eBay Up & Running Grants programme offers a direct way to offset exactly that kind of cost.
eBay UK is offering grants of up to £200,000 to entrepreneurs and established sellers building businesses on the platform. The programme targets two groups: young entrepreneurs aged 18 to 35, and established eBay sellers looking to scale. Both categories are eligible, so this is a scheme open to businesses at different stages, not only startups. If you are already running a WooCommerce store with eBay as a sales channel, you may qualify as an established seller regardless of how long you have been trading. Applications close on 30 October 2026.
The grant can be used for hiring, apprenticeships, or digital tools, which is a specific and practical list. For a WooCommerce seller, digital tools could include the integration layer that keeps your eBay listings and your WooCommerce catalogue in sync. Hiring could mean bringing in someone to manage fulfilment or customer service across both channels, and an apprenticeship could cover a junior e-commerce role. The funding is broad enough in scope to be genuinely useful for a multi-channel operation.
Eligibility is tied to your activity on eBay, so if eBay is already one of your sales channels, that baseline is met. You need to be selling on the platform, either as an established seller or as a young entrepreneur with a business plan built around it. The more considered question is whether your application can demonstrate a credible plan for growth, and that is where your WooCommerce infrastructure becomes relevant.
A clear operational picture strengthens a grant application considerably. If you can show that your WooCommerce store is the centre of your product management, that orders from eBay flow back into WooCommerce for fulfilment, and that you have a defined gap in automation, headcount, or tooling, you are describing a real business problem with a real funding solution, which makes for a more persuasive case than a vague statement of intent.
On the WooCommerce side, the integration between your store and eBay typically runs through a plugin such as Codisto (now part of the WooCommerce extensions library) or a comparable channel management tool. These plugins sync your WooCommerce product catalogue to your eBay listings, map WooCommerce order statuses to eBay’s fulfilment requirements, and pull inventory updates back in both directions. The configuration lives under WooCommerce > Settings > Integrations in your WordPress dashboard, or within the plugin’s own settings panel depending on which tool you use. Getting this right, so that a sale on eBay decrements your WooCommerce stock and triggers your fulfilment process without manual intervention, is the kind of operational detail that belongs in a credible grant application.
Most businesses running a WooCommerce and eBay integration on a shoestring end up with a fragile setup that requires constant manual correction. A properly engineered solution, one that handles product variants, pricing rules, category mapping, and order routing without breaking when either platform updates, carries a real cost. Grant funding directed at digital tooling or technical development could cover the work of building something that holds together at scale.
If the grant covers hiring, that budget could bring in someone to manage the operational side of a multi-channel setup: monitoring stock levels, handling eBay customer service, and keeping the two platforms aligned. An apprenticeship budget could fund someone trained specifically on e-commerce operations across WooCommerce and eBay. Both are direct, recurring costs in a multi-channel business, and neither is a speculative use of the money.
Before applying, it is worth considering how well-documented your current setup is. A WooCommerce store and eBay channel held together by manual exports and spreadsheets will undermine an application, because a grants panel needs to see that the business is real, that the operation is managed, and that additional funding would accelerate something already working. Fixing the integration before you write the application is time well spent.
The 30 October 2026 deadline is close enough that preparation time matters. Building or fixing a WooCommerce and eBay integration, documenting how it works, and then writing an application that references it accurately takes more than a few days.
If you are considering applying for an eBay Up & Running Grant and want to make sure your WooCommerce and eBay integration is in good shape before you do, I can review your current setup and identify what needs to be built or fixed. With the application deadline on 30 October 2026, there is limited time to get the technical side in order before you write your application. Get in touch at The WordPress Guy to discuss what your integration currently looks like and what it would take to make it application-ready.
